How can we help you?

Selling Collections

Mark Hill Auctions works with Scottish Antiques to find the very best solutions for selling entire collections, be they private or institutional.

Mark Hill and Robert Woodmansey, founder of Scottish Antiques, are both lifelong collectors and understand how hard it can be to part with a personal collection that was built up over many years, or a collection that was the life's work and treasure trove of a loved one. We respect the work, care and love that went into building a collection, and the desire of the collector that the pieces find good homes. We also understand the passion and 'eye' of the collector and revel in reflecting that as we promote, market and sell a collection. We work together to offer a unique combination of being able to split collections between our retail and auction arms to maximise the value that is returned to you.

Some items will always perform better at retail, and some pieces are best consigned to auction - our expertise and understanding of collecting - and buying and selling - allow us to help you make the right decisions. Furthermore, our deep knowledge of our combined mailing lists of contacts and social media profiles may reveal clients who are ready to buy now.

In the first six months following our inception, we have been asked to sell collections including:

  • The Studio of Nadira Azzouz - over 300 paintings from the later years of this innovative and successful Iraqi modern artist.
  • The Professor Swann Collection of Tunbridgeware - the largest private collection in the world.
  • The Contents of The Whitby Jet Museum - a nationally known private museum containing fossils, jet, and so much more...
  • Boxed Up: The Property of a Gentleman - over 500 high quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian boxes.

Please contact us if you have, or have inherited, a collection that you are considering selling.
